On Thursday, April 6th, Happy2Thrive and TCNJ MannMukti hosted their first ever Spill the Chai event at The College of New Jersey.
I have been shooed away from nitty-gritty details all my life and advised that I needed to ponder on something only if it was of significance. People are more scared of these thoughts than COVID-19. I kid you not.

A few years ago I watched Mirinda’s #ReleaseThePressure campaign video and found myself sobbing on my bathroom floor because of how real and authentic it was. Mirinda was often depicted as a quirky brand and appealed to the younger people because which kid doesn’t love a good fizzy drink?
Boundaries are crucial for your mental health. Everyone needs to set boundaries as they are for one's own well being.

There’s a familiar lump in my throat and weird squiggles in my stomach as I am writing this post. The content in this post has been largely unspoken about or said to any of my friends or family.
I want to talk about a small change that I’ve made recently. This change has been liberating and has helped me stay in control of my mind. This change is called giving the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure we have all heard of this concept in the context of maintaining good relationships with people […]

You don’t have to be THAT good of a person; No one is that good or perfect. Rather, it is more important that you find your inner peace and build a lifestyle based on your needs. It's critical that you don't forget that we are human and have natural tendencies.
You are okay. You are overwhelmed, but you are okay. Rigid routines are just as anxiety-provoking as not having any routine at all. Striking a balance between the two is essential. Remember to remind yourself every so often: everything is temporary and you are okay.
As life gets hectic, people often lose sight of their goals and get caught up in the process. There should be a shift in mindset to focus on the purpose rather than getting tangled in the steps to get there. This is why we need to free ourselves and envision our greatest vision for ourselves.
It took me a couple of years to dissect the phrase “be a man” despite it always being subtly thrown around at my brother or at some other man in my life. Now that I have understood the true message behind this phrase, I realize that it is complete bullshit. Being and feeling “enough” should […]
Whether you’re in school, college, or a part of the workforce, it is likely that a majority of us are currently at the peak of our stress and busyness as we near the end of this year. As we enter the holiday season, take a moment to commend yourself and all those around you for their hard work and...
Back home I was super disciplined and lowkey had my life figured out. My mornings were something that I took immense pleasure in because they were structured and gave me clarity. I enjoyed waking up to the loud chirping of the birds and the beam of sunlight on my forehead that escaped between the curtains. […]
Imagine finding a stunning dress at the mall. You expected it to look one way, but it turned out to look completely different. For as long as I can remember, malls often triggered my negative self-body image. Bodies are extraordinary and it doesn’t matter how skinny we are. In order to feel more comfortable in a fitting room, I first need to be comfortable being who I am within my own skin.
The definition of normal is “the usual, typical average state” – but that is what we as a society have defined normal as. After my experiences so far, I have learned nothing is ever really “normal”. I believe there are norms in this society that we have created but they are for a community as […]
It’s been nearly a week since college started, which means it’s been a week since I left home and moved into my own apartment. I wanted to take the time to be vulnerable and share some of the ups and downs that I’ve had this week as a result of this change.
My father works as a software developer at a large financial firm, and when his team was told to adapt to the new agile process, they were forced to constantly improve the produced results rather than waiting to create the perfect piece. Similiarly, I feel overwhelmed by the simplest of tasks because I worry about the end result. This discussion was truly such an eye-opener for a perfectionist like me who often finds herself frustrated at the thought of starting something new if it doesn’t feel “perfect”.
Chewing gum is my go-to method for ensuring my anxiety does not spiral out of control. It’s crucial to clarify that gum does NOT cure anxiety - it simply provides temporary relief.
After normalizing cold showers in my daily routine, there have been impeccable changes in myself that I wouldn’t want any other way. Despite the inconvenience of the temperature of the water, committing to endure it helped me develop a newfound discipline which I was able to apply to other aspects of my life. You may feel immediate results or you may experience it after implementing this as a habit, but whatever is the case, I hope you consider giving it a try!
Be it for a sick visit or an annual check-up, my doctor’s office always has me fill out a “Mental Health Questionnaire.” This questionnaire has been a recent requirement, which I appreciate as it shows that mental health is becoming more of a priority in medicine. However, I feel that there are a few drawbacks to this that defeat the whole purpose of having pediatric patients fill this questionnaire out.
The situation has been so dire that the invasion has created shortages of wood for the pyres in the crematoriums. Usually, in these times, humanity is often lost, but it has been proved that we will get love and compassion from everywhere during these tough times. But just to think, this whole situation could have been avoided with prompt measures; that is the thought that hurts the most.
