With the way things have drastically changed in the past few months, quarantine has become our new normal. After speaking to many people about their quarantine experience, I identified a common trend: the lack of structure people used to have in their lives. While things around us are changing so rapidly, perhaps it’s time we adapt and implement some changes in our lifestyles.
Here are some of the things that I have turned towards to keep myself sane while quarantined:
Spend more quality time with family
Facetime friends
Go for walks/hikes
Read books
Watch TV/netflix/movies
Pick up a new hobby that has been long impending
Do a nice home workout
Clean out the house
Do some garden work outdoors
Learn about any topics you have been fascinated by
Pick up some unfinished creative projects or start something new
Write everyday! (perhaps a journal)
Try cooking/baking
Sleeping
Take in some nature and sunlight
Meditation and yoga
Listen to music
Plan stuff for the future
These are just a few of the many things that we can incorporate into our schedules to keep ourselves busy! There are an endless amount of other activities that vary person by person to get involved with. Remember, it is okay to feel lost as we take a break from our routine lives. There is no need to beat yourself up for not being as productive as you were before. Being amidst this global pandemic, it’s a tough change for us all. Be kind to yourself and do what makes you feel happy and healthy!
